How welil works

Last updated: October 27, 2026

welil helps you find beauty and wellness businesses you can trust: salons, spas, nail and lash studios and more across the United States, in English, Spanish and Chinese. This page explains where our information comes from, how reviews work and what we do to keep both honest.

01 Where business information comes from

We gather each business’s details, such as services, hours, photos and contact information, from the business’s own public website, and organize them into a consistent page.

Businesses change, so information can go out of date. Each page shows when it was last updated. If something is wrong, use “Suggest an edit” on the business’s page, and we will look into it.

02 What “owner verified” means

A business shows the “Owner verified” badge once someone who runs it has claimed the page and our team has approved the claim.

Verified owners can update their page, add photos and publicly reply to reviews. They cannot edit, hide or delete reviews, and verification does not change how a business is rated.

03 How reviews work

Reviews on welil are written by signed-in members. Each member can review a business once, and owners cannot review their own business.

The star rating you see on a business is calculated only from reviews written on welil. We do not display ratings copied from other websites.

Members can mark reviews as helpful, and owners can respond publicly so you can see both sides.

04 What is not allowed

To keep reviews useful and fair, we remove content that breaks these rules:

  • Reviews by owners, employees or relatives of a business, or about a competitor.
  • Reviews written in exchange for money, discounts, free services or other rewards.
  • Reviews that are not based on a real experience with the business.
  • Harassment, hate speech, threats or discriminatory language.
  • Other people’s private information, such as phone numbers or home addresses.
  • Spam, advertising and content unrelated to the business.

Business owners are welcome to invite customers to share their experience, but they may not offer anything in return or ask only happy customers.

05 Reporting and moderation

Every review, post and comment has a “Report” option. Reports are anonymous to the author, and our team reviews each one.

If content breaks these rules, we remove it. Members who repeatedly break them may lose their account.

06 How businesses are ranked

Search results and featured businesses are ordered by signals we can check: how complete a business’s profile is, whether it has photos, whether its owner is verified, and the reviews and activity it receives from the welil community.

Businesses cannot pay to rank higher or to remove reviews.
